Western National Completes Purchase of Arizona-Based Companies

(Minneapolis, Minn.) Western National Insurance Group (WNIG) of Edina, Minn. today announced that it has completed the purchase of 100 percent of the stock of Arizona Automobile Insurance Company (AAIC) and Legacy Insurance Services, both headquartered in Phoenix, Ariz.  This closing follows due diligence and the receipt of approval by AAIC shareholders, Western National’s board of directors, and regulatory authorities.

Both AAIC and Legacy will continue to operate locally in Arizona as separate entities specializing in personal lines non-standard auto insurance.  Though both companies will retain their expert local management, AAIC and Legacy will now operate under the ultimate management and control of Western National.

“With the sale complete, we can now move forward in working with the employees and partner agents of AAIC and Legacy to grow our group’s premium base,” said Stuart Henderson, president and chief executive officer of WNIG.  “Their expertise, combined with our capitalization, positions our expanded group well to increase profit and enhance stability for our mutual policyholders.”

"It’s great to join such a fine group as Western National,” said Terry Proctor, former owner of AAIC and Legacy.  “This partnership provides our companies with resources, capital, oversight, and stability.  We will continue to provide impeccable customer service to the independent agency force and our insureds, while maintaining our strategic plan of generating profitable growth.“

Western National Insurance Group, headquartered in Edina, Minn., is a super-regional group of nine active companies serving the property-and-casualty insurance needs of individuals, families, and businesses.  The group’s products are sold exclusively through professional independent agents in 13 states in the Midwestern, Northwestern, and Southwestern U.S.
