Upcoming Changes to General Liability Related to Communicable Disease Exclusions

Effective August 1, 2021, Western National will be adding communicable disease exclusions to commercial general liability, businessowners liability, and commercial umbrella policies on health care facilities, residential care facilities and public gathering places such as schools, churches, and fitness centers. This action is largely driven by the reinsurance market and will affect a very small percentage of our commercial policies.

These exclusions will not apply for the following policy types in the following states:

Illinois and Washington

• General Liability
• Businessowners Liability
• Commercial Umbrella policies

Idaho

• Businessowners Liability
