Moratorium on Water Back Up Coverage for Home and Dwelling Policies
Due to widespread flooding in the Midwest, we are not currently offering water back up coverage on home and dwelling policies in Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. This moratorium became effective June 24, 2024, and no new business including water back up coverage or requests to add or increase water back up coverage limits on existing policies can be bound. Any existing requests for coverage prior to the moratorium will be handled as follows:
- Existing policies that do not currently include the coverage for which there is a request to add it effective June 24, 2024, or later – In this situation, underwriters will send a notification of declination to both the policyholder and agent.
- Existing policies that currently include the coverage for which there is a request to increase the limit effective June 24, 2024, or later – In this situation, underwriters will send a notification of declination to both the policyholder and agent.
- Any request for water back up coverage for home and dwelling submitted on June 24, 2024, or later with an effective date prior to June 24, 2024 – Underwriters will send a notification of declination of water back up coverage to both the policyholder and agent.
Underwriters remain available to answer any questions you may have about individual submissions and inforce policies.
