Western National Wisconsin Personal Auto Program Revision
Western National will be adding new rating elements to the Wisconsin Personal Auto program, effective September 1, 2019. The addition of new and/or modified rating elements allows for more granular pricing to generate premium that better reflects the attributes of each vehicle and driver.
As we prepare for the September 1, 2019 implementation, a few changes have already been made to our entry screens in AgentsOnline:
- Annual mileage will be required for each vehicle.
- You now need to complete the “Cost New” field when rating new vehicles without validated symbols.
- You will no longer be required to call us for the correct symbol for quoting.
- We have implemented stronger rules to help ensure accurate 17-digit Vehicle Identification Numbers.
Remember to refer to the question mark icon next to fields on the Personal Auto screens for descriptions and definitions.
In addition, you will notice the following items on new and renewal policies effective September 1, 2019 and after:
- Classification Codes – Vehicle/driver classification codes are being replaced by individual rating factors for vehicle use and for each driver’s age, gender, and marital status.
- Symbols – Vehicle symbols and vehicle/driver classification codes will no longer be visible in our system or on policy declarations.
- Rate Capping – Large premium swings are possible on individual policies. We are adding a rate capping feature to help control the disruption for policyholders. Although we expect most policies to renew without the need for rate capping, this new feature will prevent six-month renewals from increasing more than 6.5% and annual policies from increasing more than 10.0%.
