Announcing a Leadership Transition in the Western National Surety Team
To our valued agency partners,
As we look toward a long-term planning and growth strategy for our Surety Team, I am pleased to announce along with Larry Byers, Senior Vice President and head of Surety since 2012, that Larry has hand-picked Mark Hewitt as his successor in preparation for his retirement. Mark will assume the title of Vice President and General Manager of Surety, managing the overall operations of Surety moving forward.
Mark joined Western National in July 2012 as Assistant Vice President of Surety and has over 32 years of surety experience. He has held underwriting roles at Great American Insurance Company, American States Insurance Company, and Contractors Bonding & Insurance Company (an RLI company). He is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati (B.B.A.) and Gonzaga University (M.B.A.) and has also attained the industry designations of CPCU, AFSB, and AIM.
This transition in leadership provides the Surety Team with an opportunity to continue to build off the strong foundation that has been established by Larry, Mark, and the Surety Team. Larry will continue to be heavily involved with Surety Underwriting, reinsurance, and select agencies. We will look forward to celebrating Larry’s career when we are closer to his retirement.
