Western National Insurance South Dakota Home and Dwelling Program Updates
Western National Insurance remains committed to fully supporting our personal lines products and business in all of our states of operation. Recent market and weather trends make it necessary for us to make adjustments to our Home and Dwelling programs in order to ensure their ongoing viability. The following updates to our programs will go into effect for new business only this Sunday, October 8:
- Mono-line Home and Dwelling will no longer be accepted. To help keep our property risk profile balanced, going forward we will only accept a new Home or Dwelling policy when a supporting personal auto policy is written. Our new Select Auto and Signature Auto programs offer improved coverage and rating options, so Western National auto is now an option for more prospective customers than in the past.
- Minimum wind / hail deductibles will be increased. In the last few years, the frequency and severity of hail losses has greatly increased. To help address this issue, we are requiring all Home policies to have a wind / hail deductible of $2,500 or 1% of Coverage A, whichever is greater. Lower deductibles on business quoted prior to October 8, and effective in the next 30 days will be honored for the first term of the policy.
Implementing these updates will help to sustain our personal lines insurance products for the long-term so our mutual customers can continue to count on Western National to meet their insurance needs. If you have any questions about these updates, please contact your Regional Agency Manager. Thank you for your continued partnership.
