Western National Minnesota Homeowner Program Revision – Eff. 12-1-2019

We appreciate your insights about how Western National can expand its coverage offerings to better meet the needs of our policyholders. As a result of your feedback, we are making the following options available for new and renewal Homeowner policies with effective dates of December 1, 2019 or later.

Residence Under Construction – Theft (WN HO 91 12 19)

This optional endorsement provides coverage for theft of building materials. It has a maximum period of coverage of 12 months (compared to six months on the old form) and a variable limit up to $100,000 selected by the policyholder (instead of a maximum limit of $10,000 for any one loss).

Functional Replacement Cost Loss Settlement Terms with Additional Amount of Insurance (WN HO 108 12 19)

This new optional coverage provides Functional Replacement Cost Settlement with an additional amount of insurance of 10% of the Coverage A limit (when the loss exceeds the coverage amount). This optional coverage is available in our Standard Homeowner program for homes insured at 100% of their functional replacement cost.

New Protective Devices Credit

Western National offers discounts to policyholders who have qualifying protective devices to keep their homes safe. As part of this program, we have implemented a new credit for residences that have installed an automatic water shut-off system.

Medical Payments

We have expanded the maximum Medical Payments coverage limit from $5,000 to $10,000.

Reminder: Preferred Homeowner Rates Reduced by 24% – Effective August 1, 2019

As a reminder, our Preferred Homeowner program pricing is now lower than our Standard Homeowner program pricing for the same home. Protected homes with plumbing, heating, and electrical systems that were new or fully updated in the last 30 years qualify for our Preferred Homeowner program as long as the roof is updated and in good condition.

Our Preferred policy automatically includes the following:

Policyholders who have Preferred Form 3 or 5 can also elect to add Underground Service Line Coverage. This optional coverage provides up to $10,000 for direct physical damage to underground service lines (primary locations only). You can view our Homeowner Underground Service Line Coverage flyer by clicking here.

We strive to continually update our coverage offerings and provide you with the exceptional service that allows you to confidently place your quality clients with a best-in-class company. Your Personal Lines Underwriter or Regional Agency Manager are eager to help in any way they can. Feel free to give them a call today!
