2022 Wildfire Moratorium
As many of you are aware, Alaska’s first large wildfire of the season, the Kwethluk fire, began on Saturday, April 16, and has grown to more than 4,014 acres.
Being that it’s that time of year again when wildfires flare up, and this season is expected to be an active one, we are trusting you to NOT BIND *any coverage on locations that could be subject to damage from any wildfire. Rather than send a notice for each wildfire of the season, we ask that you please be aware of and monitor the status of fires burning in the geographical area in which you generally write business. Please carefully screen for the possible existence of wildfires for any risk that is not located in the geographical area where you normally write business. On these risks, specifically ask the client if there are wildfires within a 30-mile radius, and before binding, obtain underwriting approval from us.
Carefully screen the location of all new business in all areas of Alaska for the possibility of wildfires. If there is any doubt regarding a location, please call us prior to binding.
* Any coverage includes all lines of business: businessowners, property, inland marine, liability, and auto.
Sincerely,
Stacey Matteson
Vice President & General Manager
