Earth Movement Moratorium

As you are probably aware, heavy rains have triggered a destructive landslide in Ketchikan, Alaska, and officials have issued an emergency declaration. Based on the extensive damage and additional weather expectations, Umialik is instituting a moratorium, effective the date of this notice. The moratorium encompasses prior binding approval for any risk within 25 miles of the Ketchikan city center and will remain in effect for 30 days.

The binding restrictions encompass all property and auto exposures and will require underwriter approval prior to any binding. Additionally, due to reported damage in the area, underwriters will require verification of no known losses on property policies in the affected area at binding.

If you have questions regarding business that was quoted prior to this earth movement activity, or about this notice in general, please contact your Underwriting Team or Stacey Matteson, Vice President and General Manager.
