This fall, we welcomed our central and western regional agency managers to our Edina office for the annual Agency Sales Conference. During the same time, we also welcomed our loss control consultants for the yearly Loss Control Conference.
All in all, our extended teams enjoyed the opportunity to meet and learn with and from each other over the course of three days. We appreciate their individual efforts and the miles they travel to serve our mutual customers.
This October, a group of our employees once again took part in the Hot Cider Hustle. This walk / run event took place in Bloomington, Minnesota, on October 21, and raised money for Special Olympics Minnesota. Our employees took part in the 5K and half marathon options that the event offered.
Out of all the corporate teams, Western National had the highest number of official team members. Overall, we had 30 employees plus additional friends and family who participated. A great time was had by all!
October marked the return of our Annual Edina Bowling Event. We had a great turnout for the event with nearly 120 employees heading to AMF Southtown Lanes to enjoy an afternoon filled with great good, good company, and fun competition.
This quarter our Learning and Development Team launched our new employee learning and development program, Voyage to Excellence, that will help support all our employees’ short-term and long-term career paths as they work at Western National serving our mutual customers.
This fall, many of our employees volunteered their time and talents to support local charitable causes across our communities.
In September, a group of Edina employees visited Schoenecker Arena at the University of St. Thomas to volunteer at the 9/11 Day Meal Packs Event. During the afternoon, the group packed meals that were distributed locally by Second Harvest Heartland.
This event was a part of the federally designated 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, a nationwide effort to lead community volunteer projects in honor of those who died on September 11, 2001, and those who rose in service in response to the attacks.
On October 17, a group of our employees gathered in our Edina office and made 21 single-layer tie blankets for Project Linus. These blankets were given as gifts to children who are seriously ill and children with trauma, ages 0-18, in the Twin Cities area.
During the same week, our employees also volunteered at The Food Group. During the event, the team packed boxes with items for a Thanksgiving meal. Each box contained a turkey, frozen fish, green beans, a pie, and more. The team did a great job packing a total of 560 boxes!
Towards the end of October, a group of 11 Western National employees traveled to the Bridging warehouse in Bloomington, Minnesota, to volunteer their time for building dressers. During the afternoon, our employees built a total of 15 dressers!
Western National Insurance Group is wrapping up its fall campus recruitment efforts. Between September and the end of December, the Talent Acquisition Team and our Employee Ambassador Group will have attended nine university events between Minnesota, Washington, and Alaska.
