THE NEWSLETTER FOR AGENCY PARTNERS
I am pleased to share the first Groupwide edition of Announce, now reaching agency partners across Western National, Umialik, and Michigan Millers. By bringing all our agency partners into one newsletter, we’re strengthening our one team approach and creating a more connected experience across the Group. You’ll notice some changes to better reflect our broader audience, and we’ll continue evolving the content with you in mind. Enjoy!
Looking back on 2025, I’m proud of what we accomplished together. Western National Insurance Group delivered strong financial results, including $3.21 billion in assets, $1.39 billion in direct written premium, and $154.85 million in net income. These results reflect a disciplined approach to our business and the strength of our agency partnerships.
That momentum has carried into 2026. At the end of the first quarter, total assets for the Group hit $3.4 billion, direct written premium was $380.8 million, and our combined ratio was 93.9%. While it’s still early in the year, our strong first-quarter results represent a solid start and position us well as we move into the more volatile spring and summer storm season. We remain focused on maintaining balance and consistency in the face of that uncertainty.
This quarter also marked a significant milestone with Michigan Millers officially joining the Western National Insurance Group pool as of January 1, 2026. That transition, along with Michigan Millers’ A.M. Best upgrade to A+ (Superior), is an endorsement of our combined financial position and long-term strategy. It’s a significant moment in the continued alignment of our organizations.
As always, our success starts with our agency partners. I want to congratulate our 2026 Agency Recognition Program recipients, including recipients of the Personal Lines Platinum Agency Award, Commercial Lines Circle of Excellence, Specialty Lines Circle of Excellence, and the Power 10. This year is especially notable as we include Michigan Millers agencies for the first time, further strengthening our unified approach.
