Western National Celebrates 115th Anniversary

This year marks Western National’s 115th anniversary, and we are very excited to be celebrating 115 years of serving our policyholders! Western National was founded in St. Paul, Minnesota at the beginning of the 20th century, officially beginning operations in 1901 as the “Mutual Creamery and Cheese Fire Insurance Company of Minnesota” based in Cottonwood, Minnesota.

We’ve come a long way over those 115 years, having grown to eight active property-and-casualty insurance companies and one affiliate, with over 790 employees, $461 million in policyholder surplus, $640 million in annualized direct written premium, and $1.2 billion in assets (through June 30, 2016). We’re proud to be celebrating 115 years of rebuilding lives, and we look forward to serving many more policyholders in the years to come!
