Western National Mutual Insurance Company Announces Board of Directors Changes Following Annual Policyholder Meeting

(Minneapolis, Minn.) Western National Mutual Insurance Company today announced several changes in the composition of its Board of Directors following its annual policyholder meeting. New and re-elected members’ service will start on June 8, 2021.

Kathleen Cooney (Former Executive Vice President & Chief Administrative Officer, HealthPartners) has been re-elected to another three-year term. Ms. Cooney will continue to Chair the Audit Committee.

Jennifer Kray (Chief Financial Officer, Ashling Partners) was newly elected to the Board for an initial two-year term. In addition to her work at Ashling Partners, Ms. Kray has held similar financial leadership roles at Viavi Solutions, Dell, Compellent, and McAfee after starting her career at KPMG. She earned her B.S. in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and is a Certified Public Accountant (Inactive).

Richard (“Rick”) Long (President & Chief Executive Officer, Western National Insurance Group) was newly elected to the Board for an initial one-year term.;

David Quello (Vice President & Chief Investment Officer, Portico Benefit Service) was newly elected to the Board for an initial three-year term. Mr. Quello earned his B.A. in Mathematics from Luther College, and M.B.A. from the University of Minnesota. He is also both an Associate Actuary and a CFA Charterholder.

Kaye O’Leary (Principal, Tevera Consulting) has retired from her Board role after 14 years of service (including many years as the Chair of the Audit Committee). The Company greatly appreciates Ms. O’Leary’s many contributions during those 14 years and wishes her all the best in the future. 

Board member terms are intentionally staggered to more-evenly distribute the number of Board members whose terms may expire in any given year 

“We will miss Kaye and her many contributions, but we are pleased to retain Kathy and to add Jenny, David, and Rick to our Board of Directors,” said Steve McFarland, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Western National Insurance Group. “We look forward to the benefits our policyholders, agents, and employees will receive given the experience and expertise each brings to our Board.”
