Employee Profile
Dan Anderson
Senior Claims Representative & Catastrophe Manager
Birthplace:
Phoenix, AZ; I moved to Minnesota in the fall of 1997; my wife is from here, and I actually prefer the cold versus the heat.
Now living in:
Rosemount, MN
Designations:
Associate in Claims (AIC)
Before joining Western National:
I began my insurance career at Liberty Mutual in 1997, in the commercial lines department handling liability claims for a dedicated account. In 1998, while at Liberty Mutual, I was transferred to a field adjuster position handling no-fault and bodily injury auto claims. In 2000, I furthered my career as a commercial multi-line adjuster for Crawford & Company and United Fire Group. While at United Fire Group, I was involved in handling losses for hail and wind catastrophes, including Hurricanes Charley, Frances, Katrina, and Rita.
What would you say you do here at WN:
I handle commercial property and inland marine claims, and I have the title of Catastrophe Manager. Basically, I coordinate with our resident adjusters and the property manager for our staff adjusters to handle homeowner losses in various areas following a catastrophe. Along with other people in the property department, I helped organize our preferred contractor program and am involved with its continued development.
Best part of the job:
I would say the variety of things I see on a daily basis create the challenge that keeps me going: finding coverage for our insureds' losses and ultimately getting payments issued to finalize a claim and get our insured back to pre-loss condition.
In your free time:
Spending time with my kids, their sports and other activities, and hunting. I hunt (pheasants, ducks, deer) with a shotgun, rifle, and a bow; it tends to make my wife a little crabby in the fall. |
